First, I want to congratulate you on this next big chapter for the rest of you life. The joy I feel for you is immeasurable. Although, I still refuse to change your name in my phone from "Hoffman" to "Eiman." Bare with me, baby steps.
I have looked up to since the day I was born, figuratively and literally until the day you suddenly become shorter than me thanks to my many growth spurts. But nonetheless, still figuratively. It has officially been a week since you became a Mrs. and I must say it still has not completely sunk in for me yet.
I am writing this letter to you for a couple of different reasons.
First, I wanted to give you some advice. Now I may not be married but Forrest Gump said it best, "I do know what love is."
While it is useful to listen to the advice of our parents and other married friends, listen to yourself above all. There are only two people who know you and Jeff's relationship better than anyone else and that is the both of you. What works for other married couples may not work for you guys. It seems like everyone always thinks they have the secret to a perfect marriage, but nothing is ever perfect. And the world would be an extremely boring place if everything was perfect. People have flaws. As do relationships. I hope you absorb all the advice you are given (which I'm sure is a ton) but please always remember to follow the path you think is right for you and your relationship.
Lastly, please remember that I am always here for you. Though me may not live under the same roof anymore, or see each other as often as we'd like, you will forever be my big sister. My very first and forever best friend. You hold a special place in my heart that no one will ever replace. When times are tough, know that I am only a phone call and bottle of wine away.
I must say, one of the best parts of this whole experience is gaining a brother. I am so grateful you found Jeff. Even though our relationship is 95% tormenting each other, he is truly one of the greatest men I have ever met. There's not a lot of "Jeff's" out there...(I don't think the world can handle more than one of him to be honest) but he's the perfect fit for our family.
Congratulations again and best of luck to both of you.
