Dear grandpa, although it’s been almost 2 years, it still feels like just yesterday.
Just yesterday when we were sitting at your house watching the Royals, crossing our fingers for a W.
Just yesterday you were grilling me one of your famous hot dogs while we sat on the back porch drinking grandma’s lemonade.
Just yesterday you were sitting through every single one of my dance recitals and performances no mater how long and boring they might have been. You were proud of me.
Just yesterday you were teaching me how to play basketball. And when I missed shot after shot, you never gave up on me.
Just yesterday you watched each of the grandkids face light up on Christmas Day from the toys you and grandma picked out for us. And always had double A batteries on hand for when we were ready to tear the toy open and test it out.
Just yesterday I brought my first new car and you always admired how clean I kept it. You told me you were proud of me.
Just yesterday I said something that sparked one of my favorite sounds to hear, your laugh.
Just yesterday you were constantly showing me of how a true gentleman should treat a woman.
Just yesterday you told me again how proud you were of me.
Just yesterday we learned the true pain of the word cancer.
Just yesterday you were laying in the hospital bed for the last time.
Just yesterday you held my hand and told me one more last time how proud you were of everything I had accomplished. You told me many other words that I play over and over again in my mind and will always keep in my heart.
Just yesterday you left this earth to be with our Lord.
Just yesterday I visited your grave and we had one of our talks together.
Dear grandpa, everything feels like it all happened just yesterday. I so badly wish I could have hugged you just yesterday and a thousand more times today.
Dear grandpa, I know I’ve had some ups and downs in my life since you’ve been gone. But I hope at the end of the day you’re still just as proud of me as you were when I performed on stage, when I finally made my first basket while you were teaching me basketball and when I bought my first car.
Dear grandpa, there’s so many people I wish I could introduce you to. And so many life events I wish you could be here for. But in my heart I know you’re right there by my side.
Dear grandp, thank you for teaching me some of life’s most important lessons. How to love, to stay humble and kind, how to follow Christ.
Dear grandpa, I can’t wait for the day we meet again. For the day you wrap me up in your arms. And it’ll feel like you never left this earth, like we saw each just yesterday.
